An invention I worked was just granted a patent! Patent # 7,631,294 The invention is a system to notify developers in real-time of the possibilities of code reuse, and detecting duplicate code while they’re writing code. The goal was to alert developers to opportunities to reuse and incorporate existing code.
In short, our goal was to prevent developers from reinventing the wheel, something they attempt to do on a daily basis :)
